Life's Journey

The things you want are already yours.

It’s not the result you should chase; your name is already on that.

Chase the journey.

The highs, the lows, and everything in between; embrace them.

They’re all part of this beautiful process you were designed for.

Trust each step.

A Call To Arms

“Step Away from the Mean Girls…

…and say bye-bye to feeling bad about your looks.
Are you ready to stop colluding with a culture that makes so many of us feel physically inadequate? Say goodbye to your inner critic, and take this pledge to be kinder to yourself and others.

This is a call to arms. A call to be gentle, to be forgiving, to be generous with yourself. The next time you look into the mirror, try to let go of the story line that says you're too fat or too sallow, too ashy or too old, your eyes are too small or your nose too big; just look into the mirror and see your face. When the criticism drops away, what you will see then is just you, without judgment, and that is the first step toward transforming your experience of the world.”

The Beautiful Thing About Endings

The funny thing about endings is that you will never have an ending that is not immediately followed by a new beginning.
Isn’t that a wonderful thought?
Think about it.
At every juncture in life, when one thing ends, another begins.
And we often enter our new beginning through a door that we never could have pushed open as long as our hands were still filled with yesterday!

Self Worth 101

If you surrender your self-worth to someone who doesn’t see your true value, what happens when someone comes along who wants to give you what you’re worth instead of what you’ll settle for?

The bottom line is this: You’ve got to know your worth, at yard sales and in life, because a lot of people who are going to try to talk you out of it. If they can’t see your value, let ‘em keep on movin’!

Someone out there is looking for exactly what you’ve got and will never try and undercut your value or question your worth. Some things in life just can’t be bartered over or placed on the sale rack, and your self-worth is at the top of the list.

Simple Suppers! Dump N Go Chicken!

Dump n Go Chicken is exactly what it states on the label, you dump it in the crock pot and get about your merry day!
So into the crock pot goes…
6 skinless chicken boobies, seasoned with black pepper and salt.
1 jar of ready made salsa – I’ve been known to use the Tesco chip dip salsa because its soooo good and mega cheap, less than £1 a jar.
1 tin of chopped tomatoes, 0.5tsp cumin, 0.25tsp chilli flakes and then stir well to combine the toppings.
Cover and cook the chicken on high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours – done!
Shred the chicken & serve with fresh veggies, rice and chopped coriander….
Or if you fancy a bit of a cheat – a tortilla, topped with guacamole, shredded cheese and a dash of sour cream ;0)

Shine...

Consider the fact that maybe…just maybe…beauty and worth aren’t found in a makeup bottle, or a salon-fresh hairstyle, or a fabulous outfit.
Maybe our sparkle comes from somewhere deeper inside, somewhere so pure and authentic and REAL, it doesn’t need gloss or polish or glitter to shine.

Simple Suppers! One Pan Balsamic Chicken & Veggies!

I came across this recipe on the gram a few months ago and I love it! Thanks whoever it was that inspired me, Blondie owes you!
In a large mixing bowl combine 2 tbsp. Balsamic vinegar, 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil, 3 tbsp. organic clear honey with 0.5tsp rosemary and 0.5tsp dried thyme, a dash of pink salt and chilli flakes.
Slice in half (through the middle) 2 large chicken breasts and begin frying these on a non stick pan, medium heat. You can use coconut/fry light if you wish, but if it’s a good quality pan you often don’t need to. Each chicken piece depending on size should take roughly 10-15 minutes to cook through using a medium heat.
At half way through (5-7 minutes) after the flip the chicken, add in some veggies, I usually go for tomatoes and broccoli green beans/asparagus…. And half of the sauce prepared earlier. Continue cooking for around 5- 7 minutes until the chicken is cooked right the way through.
Remove the chicken and vegetables from the pan to a serving plate and then pour the remaining liquid mixture into the pan, turn up the heat and cook for a minute whilst scraping all of the brown bits from the pan. Leave no flavour behind!!!
Pour the sauce over the chicken and veggies and demolish!
Simples!

Recipe Serves 2.

The Past

To get over the past, you first have to accept that the past is over.
No matter how many times you revisit it, analyse it, regret it, or sweat it… it’s over.

It can’t hurt you no more.

Simple Suppers! Steak and Garlic Herby Tatties!

So Friday I showed you what I do when times in pinch and I need to eat clean, but I also have a list of quick and simple DIY recipes for home, which I thought I’d share over the next couple of weeks.
Today’s recipe is super simple, you can prep the meat the night before and marinate over night making it an even quicker mid-week supper.
Steak and Garlic Herby Tatties!

Prep: Slice your favourite cut of steak into cubes, small cubes if you like your steak well done, larger cubes if you prefer it a bit rarer. Toss the meat in a bowl with some olive oil, garlic, oregano, basil and a little pink salt. Marinate covered in the fridge over night for ease or for 30 minutes if your making for that day.

On the day: Cut up 100g Baby potatoes into halves and pre-boil for 5 minutes.
In a large sheet of foil add your potatoes and top with the steak bits. Wrap well and bake for in the oven at 200 Celsius for 20-25 minutes.

If you want a char-grilled effect, open the steak packets and grill them for the last 5 minutes.

The Gym Deli Meal Prep

So a little while ago I shared a vegan brownie recipe from The Gym Deli on here…

Well in June, amongst the crazy of everything I had so little time amongst the manic weeks to do my own food prep, I gave The Gym Deli’s meal prep service a try!

These are the selling points for The Gym Deli that made me pic them over any other meal prep company:
Local owned business - I’ve watched Natalie build the Gym Deli from the ground up she has come so far in such a short space of time its been quite inspiring to see someone I actually know, grab her life goals by the balls and make a success of it!

Simple service, read the menu, pick my meals, put together an order and mail them across to Natalie and her team. Calculate the costs, organise payment, either in store or on Paypal, confirm a collection/delivery date and its done. Sunday night, 8pm there were my meals cooked and ready for the week.

Balanced health based menu’s – each meal comes with a healthy balance of carbs, proteins and healthy fats and you get a lot of choice you want. Pick your protein, pick your carb, pick your veggie.
Cost efficient – For me to put together 5 different meals, from scratch, would cost me not only in time, but in ingredients more than the cost of having The Gym Deli do it for me. Their meals and snacks range from £3-6.50 – the majority of meals are less than a fiver and fresh fish meals naturally being up the £6-6.50 range because well fish ain’t cheap!

Here are my favourite meals from the Gym Deli Menu and their social media handles should you wish to give them a try!

Sweet Chilli Chicken, Rice Noodles & Green Beans
£4.95

Lean Beef Burger, Spinach Protein Waffles, Sweet Potato Fries
£4.95

Feta Fritata, Sweet Potato Thins & Asparagus
£3.95

Vegan Burger, Spinach Protein Waffles, Sweet Potato Fries & Sauteed Peppers
£4.95

Go Against The Grain

You’ll learn, as you get older, that rules are made to be broken.
Be bold enough to live life on your terms, and never, ever apologize for it.
Go against the grain, refuse to conform, take the road less traveled instead of the well-beaten path.
Laugh in the face of adversity, and leap before you look.
Dance as though EVERYBODY is watching.
March to the beat of your own drummer.
And stubbornly refuse to fit in.

Blonde Vs Make-Up: My Essentials

I never have and never will be a ‘beauty’ blogger.. I can confirm I don’t really know squat about make up and my every day and even going out look, is very basic, very simple and easy to maintain. After years of using ‘cheaper’ cosmetics, I did recently invest in some slightly pricier but oh my goodness such good quality products.

I gym a lot, so I sweat a lot, make up slides of my face, or clogs up my pores very easily, the following products I’ve found stay in place, all day regardless of what I’m doing and rarely now do I experience a break out. Not only that, a little goes along way, especially when you’re not needing to reapply it several times a day… so whilst it may be pricier to initially purchase, its probably actually more cost effective if you’re not going through it as quickly as the cheaper products… Know what I mean?

I’ve done a little web bargain hunting and will link you to the best priced. Please note that there are a lot of fake replicas of the following make up, you may find them cheaper on eBay, and it may not be genuine… so if you’re going to shop these products online either use the link’s I’ve set up below (tried and tested by me) or ensure that the company is a reputable reseller before purchasing.

GlamGlow Moisturizer…. This is probably my favourite product, it smells so good, you need the tiniest amount and my goodness does it give you an illuminated appearance! I quite often have a ‘make up free day’ and this moisturizer gives me a nice bright, toned complex. Price Mark: £36

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation…. I tried so many foundations… from Loreal to Boots number 7, Armani before finally being recommended this beauty! Paired with the GlamGlow Moisturizer gives a glowing, clear skin look. Again, very little goes a long way. One coating will give you a medium to full coverage, and a second coating will give that full flawless coverage. I do find two coatings a little heavy on the skin, so I tend to stick to one unless I’m having a really bad break out that needs covering for an event.
I do recommend popping to your local boots to have a skin colour match before shopping around for this! I currently wear Ecru. Price Mark: £31-£35

Finally, I have dinky fair eyelashes, I haven’t got around to eyelash extensions yet, I dabble a bit with false lashes (yes after all these years I have finally taught myself to apply them!) and for day to day lashes I LOVE Benefit’s BadGal Bang! Price Mark: £21.50

When It's Time:

When it’s time to make a change, the universe will make it so uncomfortable for you that you will have no choice but to leave.
When you are not happy in a situation, don’t stay in denial and try to force it to work.
The world has better plans for you, trust in the process and do your part by aligning yourself with the things you want.

The rest will be history.

GoodBye June, Hello July!

6 months of 2018 have been, and gone… I have 5 months and 1 week left of my 20’s and my 30’s are creeping around fast. Each month that goes by this year I learn something new about myself, I face new challenges and my life has changed a ridiculous amount in a short period of time, with many more changes pending.

Here’s some of the things I have taken from the last 30 days.
People can be incredible. Honestly, the support I have received from those closest to me, and people I don’t even know is overwhelming, and amazing. I feel so honoured, humbled and grateful to have these people in my world.

These people outweigh the ones that let you down in life. The fake friends who use you and bin you off, then make up lies to defend their actions. You know the kind; these people are usually really unhappy in themselves the majority of the time.
If I could give one piece of advice from lessons learnt, the minute a ‘friend’ starts talking distastefully about another person, with no definitive cause – i.e that person has done nothing to personally and intentionally hurt them - abandon ship on that friendship, because it won’t be long before they do the same thing to you.

I opened up a lot about my personal struggles in June, and my trouble in ‘keeping up appearances’ and the funny thing is, as soon as I owned that sh*t – life started u-turning, in a completely unforced way.

In many ways, I am starting life over right now – in a very literal sense. The next 2 months are going to be full of emotions as I say goodbye to some long-term constants, and I welcome in new beginnings. I can sit here and write a list longer than my arm of goals and intentions for the next month, but instead I’m going to keep it simple:

Embrace the changes, keep my head above water and do the best I can.
