Monthly Reflections: Blonde Vs April


What went well?
April was the month of letting go of a lot of fears. Fear of saying goodbye to people that weren’t treating me with the same care I did for them. Fear of hitting the motorways and exploring new parts of the country and the fear of doing it on my own. I embraced my independence fully for the first time in a long time.

What was challenging? 
All of it!!! So many heart racing moments. I also had to take nearly 2 weeks out of training because I literally exhausted myself, all my joints kept swelling, I got migraines, tonsillitis all self-inflicted by not taking any rest breaks through March…. Naughty blonde. So taking that break was difficult for me mentally, but now I’m sat here full of health again it was the right decision.

What did I learn this month? 
That I’m not superwoman. Well I am superwoman but only 5/6 days a week. The 7th I need to rest. I also learnt I’m not as boring as I thought. Having spent 80% of the month spending time completely with myself – I’m actually fairly entertaining, and not at all sane.

What surprised me this month? 
How big my balls are when I need them. So my main fear that holds me back a hella lot is my fear of driving on motorways. When I pulled onto the M40 for the first time on my own – there was a car accident on the hard shoulder. It freaked me out and I considered pulling off at the next junction and turning around, but I didn’t – I completed the journey. When I got there I was so shocked I’d done it and so proud of myself. I already had fear, it was escalated, and I carried on. That surprised me.

Is there anything left over from this month you’d benefit from making peace with? 
I made a lot of peace with things and people this month. I handled a lot of situations with a grace I didn’t have in me before. I said goodbye to some chapters in my life, I opened up some new roads for myself. All in all I’d say I did good on the peace making side of April.

Foodie Friday! Geoff's Protein Donuts!!!


One of my favorite new follows on the Instagram is – Average Geoff. Let me tell you there is nada, average about his foodie creations, and I just had to share this recipe he created for Time4Nutrition because, a it’s amazing, b, its donuts. Y’all know I be obsessed with donuts!


INGREDIENTS
1 cup oat flour
36g (2 scoops) Time 4 Nutrition Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein powder
1 tsp. baking powder
Pinch salt
1 large egg
¼ cup pure maple syrup/honey
¼ cup milk
3 tbsp peanut butter 
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Frosting
6 squares dark chocolate
1 tsp coconut oil


METHOD

Mix up all your dry ingredients in one bowl and wet in another.
Combine the two and fold until just combined into a thick mixture.
Spoon the mix into a sandwich bag and cut off the corner to make a piping bag.
Pipe the mix into 6 greased medium doughnut moulds and place into a pre-heated oven at 180°c for 10 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
Let them cool in the pan before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Microwave the frosting until melted and dip each doughnut in, topping with extra peanuts.
These will keep nicely in the fridge for 10 days.....try not to eat more than one a day!!

10 Things About Me!

1 – I like donuts, I feel like this is a very important fact about me, because it’s the easiest ice breaker should you ever want to talk to me – Donuts are life, Peanut butter donuts are heaven. If you turn up to the conversation with the donut’s in your hands – you will have a friend for life.

2 – I am as crazy in person as I am on social media… especially if I’m comfortable around you, in fact for those closest to me, it’s when I’m not being a whack job at 100 miles an hour they know somethings up!
3 – It offends me when someone assumes I am unapproachable. I can be a bit shy if I don’t know you, but I’m always approachable. Even in the gym - If I’m in the middle of a set… maybe wait until I’m not squishing my face like a constipated monkey but always feel free to come over and say hello.

4 – I’ve met some incredible people through social media, 2 of my closest girly friendships originate from Instagram – never underestimate the power of complimenting and supporting another woman with a few kind words!

5 – My favourite animal is a killer whale. I would LOVE to go kayaking with killer whales. I know I’d shit myself at least 10 times in the process, but it would sooo worth it!!!

6 – I only learnt to crack an egg in 2017 without breaking the yolk. One of the best things I learnt in 2017 – I’m very proud of it.

7 – I don’t understand fashion, not even in the slightest. Like Jennifer Aniston my personal style hasn’t changed in about 10 years. In fact the only fashion show I’ll watch every year is the Victoria Secrets – because a girl can never own enough sassy bra’s to go under her basic h&m tank top!

8 – Talking of bra’s/boobies, a question I still get asked on the daily – Yes, Implants. Got them in 2015, before that I was flat as a pancake, like 2 delicate fried eggs.

9 – I don’t bikini compete. Or compete with other women at all. I understand I’m not everyone’s favourite flavour of ice cream and I’m good with that. Saying that, I have the upmost respect for those who do bikini compete, or body build, I think you some badass bishes and I respect the work you put in every day, the process fascinates me and in ways it inspires me too.

10 – I’d like to see the fitness world being a little less judgey on stuff like that… a lot of companies won’t consider sponsoring someone unless they are of an ‘Athlete’ status. I think that’s unfair. Fitness is about community, bringing together people of all shapes and sizes, of all sports and helping each other to be the best that they can be, mentally and physically. Recruiting new people by inspiring them, helping them – not trying to be better than them. So I’d like to see more brands reach out to more people that are actively helping others in the fitness community, rather than focusing on people under a specific label such as ‘Athlete’ or Bikini Competitor.

April Rambles! Where I'm At!


Hello Hello!!! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve had chance to sit down and blog, and just do a random, where am I at in my life right now….

Once again a few things took a U-turn… I’m coming to expect it these days and as always… life’s gone and done that getting busy on me thing again….
Truth is, isn’t just the blog that’s suffered this last month, I had to take a step back on a lot of my social media and just focus on life in it's present being…

So what’s new….

I’m no longer working with Pegasus Gym…. I won’t go into the details… there’s no need. Let’s just say, changes were made that no longer financially suited me. I have limited spare time outside my day job and I need to invest it in other projects right now.

I am however now a fully-fledged ambassador of Time 4 Nutrition which I am sooo excited about because I GENUINELY adore their protein and pre workouts, they are an incredible company I get on so well with their sales team and the main man Paul is incredible too so it was a really nice mutual fit and I’m really proud to be representing such a great, honest and respected UK Based supplement company. For years now, I’ve been importing my supplements and protein in from the states so this has been huge breath of fresh air for me… and like I said – their stuff is lush. 
Honestly, don’t even take my word for it, go try it for yourself.

My personal fitness focus has been off the chain!!! I’m one sleeping bag away from living in the gym at the moment. Not gonna lie, 2018 I was wondering if I was going to find that side of me again, alas – she is back, in full force.

Have struggled a little over the last few months with my eating habits. I’ve been really open about my issues with sugar addictions and binge eating – I’m still struggling with both accounts from time to time but for the most part it’s under control. I did a spell of intuitive eating which I think really helped me in terms of taking the pressure off, then when I started heavily training again I went back to macro tracking.

I’m focused on dropping a little body fat whilst maintaining strength and energy, so most of my macros are assigned to whole nutrient dense foods, but you know, I make room for the odd bowl of beloved granola and Reese’s chocolate.

Again, like I mentioned above its not been perfect, and I’ve had a few ‘bad’ days where I’ve delved into the loafs of bread, Easter eggs and gone a bit too far with the hot cross buns. All in all, I’m doing pretty good.

My goal over the rest of this month is to keep doing exactly what I’m doing… but with a little more blogging and social media because I have been quieter than normal but I just needed my head in one place for a little while and that was solely on me rather than what content I could bring to you… sorry, needs must sometimes!

Anyways, that’s where I’m at, where I’ve been at, the good, the indifferent because none of its really been bad, I’m in a good place.
